What is propane?
Propane is a byproduct of natural gas processing and oil refining. It plays a critical role in America’s economy. Investing in propane helps to bolster American jobs. Propane is also widely recognized as a cleaner burning fuel source.
Versatile & Clean
Propane an economical energy source that can be used to both heat your home and power a variety of appliances. Approved as a clean fuel in the 1990 Clean Air Act, propane is a step towards reducing your carbon footprint.
What is #2 Oil?
Oil #2 is a heavy weight fuel commonly found in the United States and Canada. It is used to power home heating appliances, such as boilers, furnaces, and water heaters. For many home owners, oil #2 is the most cost-effective and fuel efficient option.
Priced per gallon, oil #2’s cost has remained historically lower than natural gas and propane. Of the heating oils available to consumers, it is also considered the most fuel efficient. However, many other factors should be considered when calculating overall fuel efficiency of a home heating system.
What is Kerosene?
Like heating oil #2, kerosene is a heavy weight fuel refined from crude oil. However, due to it’s refinement process, kerosene burns cleaner, lasts longer, and boasts a lower flash point. For this reason it is frequently considered a more efficient option.
Reliable in winter.
While kerosene produces fewer BTUs than heating oil #2, it is reliable in colder weather as it resists gelling. Most Maine homeowners with outdoor oil tanks rely on kerosene to heat their homes in the winter.
